Attorney Craig R. McClellan recently appeared on KUSI News to discuss a deadly plane crash in east San Diego County and what comes next for victims and their families.
As reported by KUSI, the accident occurred on October 11 when a doctor piloting a twin-engine Cessna C430 from Yuma, Arizona to Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport in Kearny Mesa crashed in a neighborhood in Santee, CA.
The crash resulted in the death of the pilot, a cardiologist who regularly commuted from his home in San Diego to Yuma Regional Medical Center, and a UPS driver whose truck was clipped as it approached a stop sign. At least two victims were transported to a local hospital and several homes were destroyed or damaged, according to officials.
In his interview with KUSI, Mr. McClellan discusses the aftermath of airplane tragedies and offers his legal perspective on what’s next for surviving family members, victims who were injured or burned, and those who lost their homes. This includes determining what caused the crash, be it a defect with the plane or pilot error, and looking at all potentially responsible parties, as it remains unclear whether the pilot was traveling for the foundation he worked for or in the course of his employment as a doctor on behalf of a company or hospital that may bear liability.
